El alcalde de Cádiz, José María González, y la concejala de Turismo, Montemayor Mures, han expresado hoy su satisfacción ante el “nuevo revulsivo para la ciudad” que supone la declaración de la Semana Santa gaditana como Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional como resultado de “años de trabajo serio, riguroso y constante” desarrollado desde la Concejalía de Turismo con la colaboración del Consejo Local de Hermandades y Cofradías.
Así lo han indicado en una rueda de prensa tras hacer pública esta declaración el Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo. González ha enfatizado que se trata de “un proyecto de ciudad” en el que el Ayuntamiento comenzó a trabajar en diciembre de 2017, reconociendo ahora el Ministerio “el gran valor artístico y singular de la Semana Santa de nuestra ciudad que, entre otras virtudes, ofrece estampas únicas e irrepetibles por su situación junto al mar”. Igualmente, se reconoce el valor de su imaginería, así como la forma singular en la que las cofradías gaditanas llevan los pasos a hombros de los cargadores al son de las horquillas de los manigueteros, lo que se reconoce como un elemento claramente diferenciador.
“Estamos orgullosos de este reconocimiento más que merecido a la Semana Santa de Cádiz, que trasciende a la expresión religiosa y que es parte fundamental de la esencia de la ciudad, además de ser un elemento dinamizador. Porque nosotros creemos en la Semana Santa como elemento inclusivo, no excluyente, en el que cabemos todas y todas, creyentes y no creyentes”, ha apuntado el alcalde.
La concejala de Turismo ha incidido en el trabajo realizado para conseguir este reconocimiento, que se ha dilatado en el tiempo por coincidir con el cambio de la normativa relativa a esta declaración. De hecho, como ha señalado, “la Semana Santa de Cádiz es la primera de Andalucía que consigue la declaración tras la modificación de la normativa”.
Entre otras cuestiones, Mures ha resaltado el atractivo y el valor de esta fiesta como elemento de promoción del destino de Cádiz, así como su contribución a la desestacionalización del turismo por la que viene trabajando el Ayuntamiento. Como ha dicho, “la Semana Santa es un espacio de comunidad, una expresión cultural y también un motor económico”, fundamentalmente “de la economía que queremos fomentar, que es la del comercio local, la del comercio autóctono y de cercanía”, ya que, “por suerte, imagineros, bordadoras, cereros o floristas forman parte de nuestra comunidad, de nuestro consumo responsable, sostenible y de aquí”.
Por su parte, el presidente del Consejo Local de Hermandades y Cofradías, Juan Carlos Jurado, ha expresado su agradecimiento a la Corporación municipal por un trabajo que va a contribuir a un cambio de perspectiva sobre la Semana Santa gaditana, que es “la gran desconocida” pese a tener el Consejo de Hermandades “más antiguo de España”, ser la cuna de la saeta, sin olvidar el valor de su imaginería, de sus bordados, su patrimonio en general, su música y la propia morfología de la ciudad que, con sus calles estrechas, aporta “una belleza inigualable” a los recorridos procesionales.
El alcalde ha concluido recordando el mensaje que algunos lanzaban en 2015 cuando el Equipo de Gobierno accedió al Ayuntamiento sobre que “íbamos a acabar con la Semana Santa y que casi íbamos a quemar las iglesias”. Sin embargo, “hemos demostrado con nuestro trabajo que creemos en la Semana Santa como elemento dinamizador, como tradición arraigada en nuestra historia y en nuestra piel, como un motor económico y, sobre todo, como una particularidad de nuestra tierra que hay que cuidar, proteger y potenciar, siempre dentro de la sostenbilidad, por los beneficios que supone para la ciudad”.
